The design of the Tasmap 1:50 000 Map Series provides a clear and accurate portrayal of topographic information, covering the entire State with 79 maps.

This map covers from Binalong Bay to Eddystone Point, regarded as one of the most beautiful places in Australia.

This area is located on Tasmania’s East coast and features white sandy beaches, crystal clear water and it’s famous orange lichen covered covered boulders (hence it’s name the Bay of Fires).

This place is popular for snorkelling, diving and game fishing with plenty of campsites in the southern and middle sections of the coast.

The design of the Tasmap 1:50 000 Map Series provides a clear and accurate portrayal of topographic information, with symbols and map content giving enhanced depiction of buildings, hill shading and a simplified classification of vegetation.

Each map covers a 30 x 40 kilometre area with a 1 kilometre grid based on the Map Grid of Australia (MGA94) which utilises the Geocentric Datum of Australia 1994 (GDA94). At this scale, 1 millimetre on the map represents 50 metres on the ground.
