Description
Built for challenging mountain terrain and year-round hiking, the Black Diamond Alpine Carbon Z combines strong 100% carbon-fibre shafts with a compact three-section folding design. These fixed-length trekking poles provide dependable support on steep tracks, rocky approaches and snow-covered routes while packing down small enough to carry inside or outside your pack.
The S18 version features reinforced joints with protective aluminium rings and sleeves in key areas. This improves stiffness and helps protect the carbon-fibre sections from wear around the connecting points.
Fast Z-Pole deployment
Black Diamond’s Z-Pole system connects the three shaft sections with a concealed internal cord. Pulling the grip and upper shaft apart guides each section into position using the Speed Cone system, allowing the pole to extend and lock quickly.
When the poles are no longer required, pressing the release button allows the sections to separate and fold into a compact bundle. Depending on the selected length, each pole packs down to between 34cm and 44cm.
Comfortable cork grips
Natural cork grips provide a comfortable and secure hold while gradually conforming to the shape of your hands. A dual-density grip top adds support, while the short EVA foam extension provides an alternative hand position when climbing steep terrain or traversing slopes.
Breathable, moisture-wicking wrist straps help maintain a secure connection to the poles without requiring an excessively tight grip.
Four-season versatility
Flex Tech Tips allow compatible carbide or rubber tips to be fitted for different surfaces. Trekking baskets are supplied for regular trail use, while the included Compactor powder baskets provide additional flotation in snow.
As these are fixed-length poles, selecting the appropriate size is important. When holding the grip with the pole tip on level ground, your elbow should form an angle of approximately 90 degrees.
