Black Diamond Distance Carbon Trekking Poles
Created for trail runners, ultralight hikers and fast-moving mountain adventures, the Black Diamond Distance Carbon Trekking Poles deliver essential support with remarkably little weight. Their minimalist, fixed-length construction removes folding joints and adjustment hardware, resulting in a simple and responsive pole weighing from only 85g per pole.
Developed in collaboration with Black Diamond athlete Joe Grant, these poles are designed for situations where low weight and efficient movement take priority. They are suitable for trail running, ultramarathons, fastpacking, steep climbs and lightweight hiking.
One-piece carbon-fibre construction
Each pole uses a single 100% carbon-fibre shaft. With no telescoping sections or folding connections, the Distance Carbon provides a direct and responsive feel while keeping its weight exceptionally low.
The fixed construction also means the poles cannot be shortened, adjusted or folded for transport. Choosing the correct length is therefore important. On level ground, the appropriate size should generally position your elbow at approximately 90 degrees while holding the grip.
Lightweight EVA grips
The compact EVA foam grips provide cushioning without adding unnecessary bulk. A short grip extension offers an alternative hand position on steep climbs or traverses, allowing you to hold the pole lower without stopping to adjust its length.
Breathable, moisture-wicking wrist straps help keep the poles secure during long periods of movement. Recycled materials are incorporated into the strap construction.
Designed for efficient carrying
A subtle ring around the middle of each shaft provides a defined grip point and helps balance the pole when carried horizontally. This is particularly useful when moving through sections where poles are temporarily unnecessary but need to remain readily accessible.
Interchangeable tips and baskets
The interchangeable Tech Tip system allows worn tips to be replaced or changed to suit different surfaces. Rubber Tech Tips are included for quieter, non-marking contact on hard surfaces.
Removable low-profile baskets provide practical protection against the tips sinking too deeply into softer ground while maintaining the poles’ streamlined design.
