Description
SILVA Ranger MS Compass
The SILVA Ranger MS is a dependable baseplate compass designed for bushwalking, backpacking, camping and general outdoor navigation. Its Magnetic South needle is balanced for use in Australia, New Zealand and other locations within the southern magnetic zone.
The transparent baseplate allows map details to remain visible while plotting a route or taking a bearing. Clearly marked 1:25,000 and 1:50,000 scales assist with measuring distances on commonly used topographic maps, while the integrated magnifying lens makes small symbols and fine map details easier to inspect.
A DryFlex™ rubber grip around the rotating housing provides secure handling in cold or damp conditions. The capsule also contains a declination scale, allowing magnetic declination to be accounted for wherever the compass is being used. Luminous markings can be activated by exposure to daylight or a torch for easier reading in low-light conditions.
The supplied detachable lanyard includes a safety-release fitting and can be used to keep the compass readily accessible while walking. Compact, waterproof and weighing only 33g, the Ranger MS offers the essential functions needed for reliable map-and-compass navigation without the additional bulk of a mirror-sighting compass.

Compare SILVA Magnetic South Compasses
All three compasses use a Magnetic South needle balanced for navigation in Australia and New Zealand. The main differences are the level of navigation experience they support, their map scales and the additional tools included with each model.
