All townships are listed with grid references. Elevation is marked in shadings, and key points of interest are marked including sealed and unsealed roads, 4WD roads, road distance markers, visitor information centres, vehicle and passenger ferries, Woomera Prohibited Area, Fruit Fly Exclusion Zone, National Parks, Conservation Parks and Reserves, Forest Reserves, Sanctuaries and Idigenous Protected Areas, Aboriginal Lands, and Marine Parks.

The reverse side of the map depicts a 1:700,000 scale map of southern South Australia from Adelaide to Port Augusta and Port Lincoln, as well as Kangaroo Island.
